 XE8300 8 Input Expansion Module

Connecting Expansion Modules to the XE8000

A maximum of two XE8300 expansion modules may be connected to the XE8000. This gives a maximum of 20 inputs.

A 6-way cable is used to connect the XE8300 to the XE8000. Another 6-way cable is used to connect a second XE8300 to the first.

A 2m 6-way cable is supplied with the XE8300. Longer cables should not be used.

XE8300 Expansion Modules may be connected to Digital Only XE8000 SMS Controllers, but the inputs will only be configurable as Digital.

Addressing

The XE8300 has a switch to select its address, ie inputs 5-12 or inputs 13-20. This switch can be changed without opening the case.

LED Operation

When the system is powered up, the LED on the unit that is addressed for inputs 5-12 will flash once, and the LED on the unit that is addressed for inputs 13-20 will flash twice.

The LED flashes each time the device communicates with the XE8000.

Input Modes

The inputs of the XE8300 are individually configurable as:

  • 0-10V
  • 4-20mA
  • Digital (Default)

The digital inputs are voltage-tolerant and will accept signals in the range of 0-30VDC. A low signal is recognised with voltages below 0.5V. Voltage-free, clean-contact type sensors may be connected.

ADC Oversampling

256 times oversampling of the 10-bit Analog to Digital Converter achieves 14-bit resolution.
